When Is The Best Time To Do Newborn Photos?
Congratulations, you’re pregnant! No doubt you have much to plan for. And since you are on my blog, then you may have already decided that you are going to hire a Newborn Photographer to capture your baby’s earliest and most precious days on this earth. That’s a great choice! Allow me to help you make the first step in the process of booking. I have listed some tips that will help you decide when to schedule your Newborn Photographer.
The best time to book your newborn photographer is in your second trimester. At this point you have made it past the stage of elevated risk to your pregnancy. If you put it off until the third trimester, you risk the chance your chosen photographer will be fully booked.
You’re probably wondering how you will be able to choose the day of your photoshoot when you don’t know exactly what day your baby will be born. Don’t worry, we are prepared for that. Our standard procedure is that once you have given us your due date, we reserve that general time frame, give or take a week or two , because one thing we understand is that your baby will come when your baby wants to come! Put our number on your speed dial because once your baby is born , just let us know and we will schedule you in within the first few weeks of birth.
If your baby is having a circumcision, then we prefer to wait at least a week after his procedure, to ensure he’s healed up. They tend to be fussier during the healing process, and he may be more upset that we are moving him around for posing.
The main reason we want you to have your newborn photoshoot before one month old is for two reasons.
1. Your baby is the sleepiest. And if they are sleeping then we can pose them more and get those shots that you want.
2. They are the most flexible at this point and are more comfortable when we are posing them. If you wait until your baby is too much older they tend to be awake more and have more of an opinion about moving their limbs around.
Don’t get us wrong, we still want to photograph your baby at any age and we will get those beautiful pictures, these are just a few tips to help the session go smoother.
